Whether it was the increase in economic stability making food easy to come by, or it was a marketing ploy to entice more customers into a business by offering them more for their money, the increase in portion sizes has not stopped.

Part of it is due to larger plates becoming more normal, which creates an optical illusion that doesn't allow our eyes to properly gauge how much food is actually on a plate.
